Here, Jesus is finishing his first and most famous teaching, called “The Sermon on the Mount.” In these closing statements, he focuses on how we can identify authentic faith, and how we can develop this kind of faith in our own lives.

1. Matthew 7:20 – Make an honest assessment of your recent actions: what actions reveal Jesus, and what actions reveal a need for Jesus’ transformation? Thank him for what he’s done, and invite him into the areas that still need change.
2. Matthew 7:23 – How open and honest are you in prayer? Spend some time simply sharing with God what you’re feeling and thinking about.
3. Matthew 7:24 – Write down a scripture that you want to more intentionally “listen to” and “follow” (if you can’t think of one, use Philippians 2:3-4). Read it each day this week and ask God to help you follow it more deeply.
