As Matthew ends his account of Jesus’ parables, he begins to show how the subject of these parables played out in other people’s lives. In these specific events, the rejection by crowds and the suffering of Jesus’ followers begins to take place.

1. Matthew 13:57 – Do your spiritual practices and church involvements feel routine and irrelevant, or fresh and significant? Think of at least one way you don’t typically engage with God, and find time to do so this week.
2. Matthew 13:58 – Are there any circumstances that you have lost hope in Jesus for? Write out a statement of faith in God’s desire and ability to work in each situation that needs fresh belief.
