Jesus is confronted with the hypocrisy of the Jewish religious leaders, and the faith of a non-Jewish woman. Both of these stories illustrate his desire for us to experience true, inward change instead of being satisfied with outward appearances and reputations.

1. Matthew 15:8 – Does your public expression of faith match your private experience with God? Start a conversation today with someone close to you about keeping your heart close to Jesus.
2. Matthew 15:18-19 – What does the way you speak to your family and peers reveal about your heart? Ask God to purify your heart, being specific about any areas you feel need deeper change.
3. Matthew 15:27 – How strong is your desire for God’s blessing? Pray for a greater longing for God’s favor and deliverance, and spend extra time quietly waiting with that desperation in mind.
