Jesus is giving instructions to his disciples to continue the work he has begun in ushering in the “Kingdom of Heaven.” Many of these instructions are centered around developing total reliance on God, both through divine provision and through the hospitality of God’s people. He also prepares them for the unavoidable challenges that come with being commissioned by God.

1. Matthew 10:8 - What has been freely given to you by God? List are some ways you can intentionally give to others what God has given to you.
2. Matthew 10:19 - How often does fear and worry influence what you say to others about Jesus? Pray for greater boldness for his kingdom and greater trust in his love.
3. Matthew 10:22 - Do you have confidence that you would endure anything for your faith? Ask God to make you steadfast and faithful, and then ask someone else to pray about it with you.
