John the Baptist was considered to be the first real prophet of Israel in centuries, and was very outspoken about Jesus as the Messiah. However, with him now in prison, Jesus defends John’s position and faith to the onlooking crowds—and then comments on the faith of the crowds that have watched him teach and perform miracles.

1. Matthew 11:11 – Do you think the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life is evident? Spend some time inviting the Holy Spirit to work in you more deeply, and through you more clearly.
2. Matthew 11:28 - Is your soul at rest, or do you feel rushed, anxious, or overwhelmed? Write out the things that are wearing you out, and ask Jesus to exchange them for his rest.
