ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Lead and mentor a team of volunteers, providing guidance, training, and support to foster their growth and effectiveness in ministering to children during the 8am experience.
• Assist in the set-up and preparation of the kids' ministry area before the experience, overseeing volunteers and ensuring that all materials, equipment, and resources are ready for use.
• Welcome and check-in children as they arrive for the experience, modeling warmth and hospitality and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
• Coordinate and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and teachings for children during the service, empowering volunteers to participate in leading various aspects of the program.
• Support and empower volunteers by delegating tasks, providing feedback, and encouraging their active engagement in ministry roles.
• Assist in clean-up and organization of the kids' ministry area after the experience, delegating tasks to volunteers and ensuring that all materials are properly stored and the space is left clean and organized.
• Must be able to receive and give feedback to and from leadership and serve team members in order to further our commitment to growth, safety, and excellence.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children in a childcare, educational, or ministry setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and volunteers.
• Ability to follow directions, work independently, and take initiative in providing excellent service and care to children and parents.
• Basic understanding of child safety protocols and willingness to adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the church.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with children in a church context.
• Familiarity with basic childcare practices, including behavior management and age-appropriate activities.
• Training or certification in child safety or first aid/CPR beneficial.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Alignment with the statement of faith and core values of Definition Church.
• Must pass a background check, demonstrating a commitment to child safety and protection.
• Willingness to follow the direction of the Campus Kids Director and work collaboratively with other ministry team members.
• Positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with children in a ministry setting.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

• The Hourly Kids Service Coordinator position is part-time, with hours specifically allocated for the 8am kids' experience on Sundays.
• Additional hours may be required for set-up, scheduling future team members to serve, clean-up, and occasional meetings or training sessions as directed by the Campus Kids Director.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

•  The Hourly Kids Service Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, engagement, and spiritual growth of children attending the 8am experience, with responsibilities focused on facilitating a positive and enriching experience for all participants.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact warmly and effectively with children, parents, and volunteers.
• Professional demeanor and the ability to work collaboratively with the Campus Kids Director and other ministry team members.
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the needs and dynamics of the kids' ministry environment during the 8am experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

• The position may require standing, walking, and engaging in physical activities with children during the service.
• Additionally, the coordinator may need to lift and move equipment or materials as part of set-up and clean-up tasks.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Up to 5% travel is required for this position.
