Youth Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight, guidance, and development for the youth ministry under the direction of the Next Gen. Pastor, nurturing a dynamic and spiritually enriching environment for students.
  • Strategically plan, lead, and coordinate youth gatherings, events, and discipleship activities that engage and disciple students in their faith journey.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of dedicated youth leaders and volunteers, equipping them to effectively minister to students and cultivate meaningful relationships.
  • Lead and facilitate biblically grounded teachings, discussions, and small groups that challenge and equip students to live out their faith authentically.
  • Collaborate closely with the Next Gen. Pastor and other ministry leaders to ensure alignment with the overall vision and goals of the church, while actively integrating youth into the broader church community.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry, Theology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development, youth culture, and effective youth ministry strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate well to students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Proven experience in planning and executing youth-centered programs, events, and outreach initiatives, with a focus on discipleship and relational ministry.
  • Strong leadership abilities, characterized by vision casting, team building, and empowering others for ministry effectiveness.
  • Commitment to personal spiritual growth, professional development, and ongoing learning.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in youth ministry leadership or related roles, preferably in a church or ministry setting.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools, resources, and technologies for youth ministry, including curriculum, social media platforms, and event planning software.
  • Training or certification in counseling, pastoral care, or relevant fields is beneficial.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of a background check, demonstrating a commitment to child and youth safety and protection.
  • Alignment with the statement of faith and core values of Definition Church.
  • Actively engaged in the life of the church community, modeling a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrated integrity, humility, and a servant-hearted attitude, embodying the qualities of a spiritual leader and mentor.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a ministry team, supporting the broader mission and vision of the church.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamics and challenges of youth ministry, demonstrating resilience, creativity, and a passion for reaching and discipling young people.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Youth Pastor position is full-time, with work hours aligned with the expectations outlined by the Next Gen. Pastor and church leadership.
  • Participation in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and church events is required for effective ministry coordination and collaboration.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • The Youth Pastor plays a significant role in shaping the spiritual formation and growth of students within the church community, with decisions and actions impacting the vitality and direction of the youth ministry.
  • They will work closely with the Next Gen. Director and Team, while being expected to make decisions and lead their team independently.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth, parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure during interactions and ministry activities.
  • Collaboration with ministry teams and leadership is essential for the successful execution of events and initiatives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While primarily mental, the role may involve periods of standing, walking, and participating in events and activities as needed.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 5% travel is required for this position.
