REVIEW: The Church must go first.

  • ‭‭‭‭READ: Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” 
  • DISCUSS: Are there any environments or relationships in which you could face hardship for your faith?

REVIEW: The church should love what God loves and hate what God hates.

  • READ: Romans 6:13 “Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.”
  • ‭‭DISCUSS: What are some ways you can be a positive example of Christ’s heart to others?

REVIEW: The church be prepared for the consquences and rewards of following Jesus.

  • READ: 1 Peter 4:12-13 “Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.” 
  • ‭‭DISCUSS: What are the promises of God that offer you the most hope for the future?
  • ‭‭DISCUSS: How do you think Christians can strengthen themselves to face challenge and even persecution for their faith? 

  ASK:

What else did you get from this week's sermon? What actions or next steps can you take to apply it to your life?

  PRAY:

For a clearer understanding of the truth, courage to remain committed to it, and humility in how we handle it.
