Jesus doesn’t enter with force or fame—He comes in humility, inviting us into a deeper story of surrender, transformation, and mission. He’s the King on a donkey, winning a victory no earthly ruler ever could.
REVIEW: Jesus is Our Humble King
- READ: Mark 11:1–7 –"As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 'Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, "Why are you doing this?" say, "The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly."' They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, 'What are you doing, untying that colt?' They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go."
- DISCUSS: What does Jesus’ humility in this moment reveal about His heart—and how does that reshape your own view of leadership and power?
REVIEW: Jesus Invites Us Into His Way
- READ: Zechariah 9:9 – "Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."
- DISCUSS: What is one area where Jesus is asking you to follow Him in humble obedience right now?
REVIEW: Jesus Grows Us Through Grace and Trust
- READ: Philippians 2:5–8 – “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!”
- DISCUSS: Where are you tempted to grasp for control, recognition, or comfort, and how is Jesus inviting you instead to take the posture of a servant?
ASK:
What else did you get from this week's sermon? What actions or next steps can you take to apply it to your life?
PRAY:
Jesus, thank You for being a different kind of King—a humble King, a servant King, a victorious King. Thank You for riding into Jerusalem not to take power, but to give Your life. Teach us to follow Your example. Give us courage to trust You when it’s costly. Grow our faith in the middle of the unknown. And help us walk in community, with joy, as we live for Your kingdom. We surrender again today. In Your Name, Amen.=
INVITATION TO RESPOND:
Let this story shape how you live this week. Here are 5 ways to respond:
- Reflect on Jesus’ humility. Where are you tempted to grasp for control or image? Ask Jesus to help you walk in quiet confidence and humility instead.
- Submit one decision to Jesus. What’s one area in your life you’ve been holding tightly? Open your hands and ask, “Jesus, what do You want?”
- Do something bold with someone else. Step into spiritual adventure by taking a risk with a trusted friend—pray together, serve together, or reach out to someone in need.
- Make room for miracles. Take a small step of obedience and expect God to show up—even if it feels as strange as untying someone’s donkey.
- Let failure grow you. Where have you fallen short this week? Instead of hiding in shame, bring it to Jesus and ask Him to meet you there with grace and transformation.
This week, don’t just remember Jesus’ ride into Jerusalem—ride with Him. The King is still on the move, and He’s inviting you to come along.
