Sermon Guide

Presence of Joy

December 10, 2023
Jonathan Stutts

Joy is a deep, abiding, strong conviction that God is in control and his promises are true, so we always have reason to rejoice.

REVIEW: Joy comes from presence, not presents (possessions).

  • ‭‭‭‭READ: Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
  • DISCUSS: What situations or perspectives have caused you to disconnect from God’s promises recently?
  • DISCUSS: How can you plan to practice being aware of God’s presence and inviting his joy?

REVIEW: Joy comes from purpose, not pleasure.

  • READ: Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
  • ‭‭DISCUSS: What kind of person do you want people to remember you as? Does anything need to change so that you can become that kind of person?
  • ‭‭DISCUSS: How might God be using you to build his kingdom in this season of your life?

  ASK:

What else did you get from this week's sermon? What actions or next steps can you take to apply it to your life?

  PRAY:

For God to deepen and strengthen our faith that he is in control, his promises are true, his presence is near, and he has a purpose for our lives.
