Monthly Practice:

Vision

Overview

"Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is one who keeps the Law."
Proverbs 29:18 NASB

Vision provides direction and purpose to our lives.

When we live without vision, it's easy to become aimless, distracted, or complacent. When we live without a mission, we can find ourselves uncertain or unclear about our growth and progress through life. But when we live with vision and mission, it is much easier for us to make better decisions, stay focused on what's important, and accomplish all that God puts in our hearts to do!

Weekly Guides

Week 1

PRE-MEETING PREPARATION

  • Make sure you have access to the weekly video and can play that for the group.
  • Review the weekly Big Idea for your reference. This is intended to give you context for the week. You can choose whether or not to read this in the group as a summary/refresher after watching the video.
  • Read through the Group and Individual Practices ahead of time.

BIG IDEA: Vision helps us live with intentionality.

  • Having a vision and mission helps us stay focused on what’s important.
  • Vision isn’t so much about what we’re accomplishing as it is about who we’re becoming.
  • Your life matters, and God has given it to you for a reason.

  • WATCH the overview video together, then engage in discussion.
  • REVIEW the video and Discussion Highlights for this week.
  • ASK: Do you have an idea of what you hope your life will look like one year from now? Five years from now? Try to think more about character traits and lifestyle rather than specific circumstances.
  • ASK: What motivates you to keep moving toward Jesus and living with healthy life rhythms?
  • REVIEW the memory verse and other resources for the month.

Individual practice - to do on your own throughout the week

Spend a day or two asking God to begin giving you a fresh vision for your life. Then, write down some characteristics that you feel he wants to develop in your life over the next few years, so you can share them with your group at the next meeting.

Week 2

  • Review the weekly Big Idea for your reference. This is intended to give you context for the week. You can choose whether or not to read this in the group as a summary/refresher after watching the video.
  • Read through the Group and Individual Practices ahead of time.

BIG IDEA: Vision helps us live with accountability.

  • The things that God calls us to will always require growth.
  • Without accountability, we tend to avoid discomfort.
  • You cannot become the person God has called you to be by yourself.
