Who Do You Say That I Am?

Today, we ask the most important question of all: Who do you say that Jesus is?

REVIEW: What evidence prepared the way for Jesus?

  • READ: Isaiah 53:5–6 – “But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds. We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished him for the iniquity of us all.”
  • DISCUSS: How does seeing prophecy fulfilled in Jesus strengthen your confidence that He really is the Son of God?

REVIEW: What evidence comes from the life of Jesus?

  • READ: Mark 14:61–62 – “But he kept silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him, ‘Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am,’ said Jesus, ‘and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.’”
  • DISCUSS: If someone in our world today made the same claims Jesus did, how would you respond? What makes Jesus’ claims credible rather than delusional?

REVIEW: Why does the resurrection matter?

  • READ: 1 Corinthians 15:3–6 – “For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep.”
  • DISCUSS: What difference does it make in your life that Jesus rose from the dead? How does His resurrection give you courage to live faithfully today?

REVIEW: How has Jesus’ impact continued after His resurrection?

  • READ: John 14:12 – “Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”
  • DISCUSS: Where do you see evidence of Jesus’ influence in the world today? How has His presence shaped your own story?

REVIEW: How do we endure difficult moments?

  • READ: Matthew 16:13–16 – “When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say that the Son of Man is?’ They replied, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But you,’ he asked them, ‘who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’”
  • DISCUSS: How would you answer Jesus’ question in your own words today? What do your daily choices reveal about what you truly believe about Him?

  ASK:

What else did you get from this week's sermon? What actions or next steps can you take to apply it to your life?

PRAY:
Lord Jesus, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. You fulfilled the promises of Scripture, You revealed the Father through Your life, You conquered death through Your resurrection, and You continue to change the world today. Help me to trust You fully, follow You faithfully, and proclaim You boldly. Strengthen my faith, ignite my worship, and shape my life so that all I do points to You as Savior and Lord. Amen.

INVITATION TO RESPOND:
This week, live out your confession of who Jesus is:

  • Read the Gospels: Spend time daily with Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.
  • Share your testimony: Tell someone this week who Jesus is to you.
  • Serve with love: Live out His teaching that “the greatest among you is the servant.”
  • Celebrate resurrection hope: Remember that your future is secure because Jesus lives.
  • Confess Him as Lord: Begin each day saying out loud, “Jesus, You are the Son of the living God.”

Jesus is still asking today: “Who do you say that I am?” The answer changes everything.
