The book of Acts begins by making one thing unmistakably clear: everything rises or falls on who Jesus is and what He came to do. Before the church moves, before the mission expands, Luke anchors us in the identity and mission of Christ.
READ: Acts 1:1–3 –
“In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven… After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.”
DISCUSS: How does your answer to the question “Who is Jesus?” shape the direction of your life?
READ: Acts 1:8 –
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
DISCUSS: How does Jesus redefine the disciples’ expectations of the kingdom? What does it mean to be a witness through both your words and your life?
If Jesus truly is who He claimed to be, how should that change what you live for and what you give your life to?
Jesus, we confess that everything depends on who You are and what You have done. Anchor our faith in Your life, Your cross, and Your resurrection. Fill us with Your Spirit so that our lives point clearly to You and Your kingdom. Give us courage to live as faithful witnesses for Your glory. Amen.
