God's Story: A Step of Faith

Faith is more than believing the right things—it is trusting God enough to take the next step. James writes, "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:26). God grows our faith as we respond in obedience, one step at a time.

What is one step of obedience God is inviting you to take this week?

PRAY

Lord, we thank You for always being faithful. Help us to trust You enough to obey, even when we cannot see the whole path ahead. Give us the courage to take the next step, knowing that You are already there. Strengthen our faith through every act of obedience, and use our lives to point others to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

INVITATION TO RESPOND

The invitation this week is simple: don't stay on the shore. Let your faith become visible through daily obedience.

• • Recognize Your River: Spend time with God and ask Him to reveal the area where fear, comfort, or uncertainty has kept you from taking your next step.
  • Choose One Step: Don't focus on the whole journey. Identify one specific act of obedience—whether it's forgiving someone, acting with integrity, giving generously, sharing your faith, having a difficult conversation, or saying "yes" to God's calling.
  • Trust Daily: Each morning, surrender that decision to God again. Choose obedience before you know the outcome, trusting His character more than your circumstances.
  • God's Faithfulness: Pay attention to how God meets you as you obey. Keep a journal of answered prayers, unexpected peace, opened doors, or lessons He teaches along the way.
  • Encourage: Share what God is teaching you with another person. Your story of taking one step may become the encouragement someone else needs to step into their own river.

God never asks us to take a blind leap of faith. He asks us to trust the One who has always been faithful. Every miracle didn't begin with certainty—it began with obedience.
